New Online Hub Shares Needed Information On Pet Cancer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CALGARY, AB – January 18, 2017—Vets estimate that one in four dogs, at some stage in their life, will develop cancer, and 50% of dogs over the age of 10 will develop cancer — that according to the Veterinary Cancer Society.

There are, however, preventative steps pet guardians can take to keep their pets healthy and cancer free. There are also ways to learn more about the common types of pet cancer and ways to find support for pet guardians if a cancer diagnosis is made.

All of this pet cancer information is now available in one spot: www.kaliswish.org

On the website, new information is curated from across the globe weekly to provide readers with the most recent and relevant information on pet cancer that guardians need to know. The curated information is then shared and commented on by our “panel of experts” from the veterinary community.

“I started Kali’s Wish Cancer Foundation after I lost my dog Kali to cancer at the age of seven. I was searching the Internet for answers and support after my loss and had a hard time finding resources,” said Laura Leah English, CEO of Pet Planet Health and founder of Kali’s Wish Cancer Foundation. “I started Kali’s Wish so it could provide the tools, for pet guardians, around prevention, diagnosis, treatment and dealing with loss. There needs to be a place that guardians can trust to get their information.”

This new pet cancer hub will also provide a space for pet guardians to ask experts questions and share their thoughts on pet cancer.

The new website was made possible by Natural Balance Pet Foods. As a new partner of Kali’s Wish Cancer Foundation, Natural Balance came on board because its values closely align with the Kali’s Wish cause.

“Natural Balance believes in nurturing the bond between pets and the people who love them, and is a proud supporter of Kali’s Wish,” said Todd Wigert, VP of Independent Sales of Natural Balance. “This partnership will help increase awareness and understanding of cancer in our pets.”

Kali’s Wish Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending pet cancer by helping pet guardians and their families better understand pet cancer and its prevention.
