Loki’s Story

We want to share a message of support for our friend Jesse, a resident of Alberta, and his best friend, Loki. He reached out to us looking for support from our vet experts when he found out Loki, a pitbull mastiff mix, was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma of the nose.

Loki, who is almost five, wasn’t feeling well one day last year. Jesse noticed that he had a loose tooth and some blood around his nose and mouth. Assuming a traumatic injury occurred, Jesse took Loki to the vet to be checked out. The veterinarian also assumed it was a trauma but after two weeks and no change to Loki’s status, a biopsy was performed. Sadly, the test results came back as positive for cancer and Loki’s fight began. An estimated 6 million dogs will be diagnosed with cancer this year.

Jesse has been exploring treatment options with his vet, but the costs associated with treatment have been a roadblock. Another roadblock has been the CT scan machine experiencing repairs, delaying the process even more. With each day that passes, Loki continues to fight and you can see in the photos the tumour on his nose hasn’t slowed down his zest and spirit!

Jesse and Loki are currently driving from Alberta to Saskatchewan to receive cancer treatments. Please join us in wishing a safe journey and beneficial treatment to Loki and Jesse.
