As the year comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on everything our community has built together — moments of hope, stories of love, and connections that become lifelines for families facing pet cancer and loss. At Kali’s Wish, this sense of community is at the heart of everything we do, and 2025 has shown us just how powerful it can be.
A Year of Compassion and Community
This year, our network of guardians, pet lovers, supporters, and partners once again demonstrated the strength of a compassionate community. Whether online or in-person, you helped us create a space where no family has to face a pet cancer diagnosis or loss alone.
One story in particular touched our team deeply. Recently, we reached out to our members seeking a “buddy” for a guardian whose service dog had been diagnosed with cancer. We hoped to find someone who could truly relate — someone who understood the unique bond between a handler and their service dog, and the heartbreak of navigating a cancer journey with a partner who supports you every day.
Because of your generosity and connection, we found that perfect match.
A fellow guardian stepped forward — one whose own service dog had courageously faced the same type of cancer. Their experiences, understanding, and empathy have become a source of comfort for the guardian they’re now supporting.
These connections are more than helpful… they are lifelines. A listening ear from someone who truly understands can bring peace during moments of fear, confusion, or grief. It’s yet another reminder of why our work, and our community, matters so deeply.
Showing Up All Year Long
Our presence in the community has continued to grow thanks to you. In 2025 we:
• Engaged with families at beloved Calgary events like the Home & Garden Show and The Day of the Dog Festival (Pet-a-Palooza).
• Connected with pet guardians online, offering guidance, compassion, and free access to our programs year after year.
• Strengthened our support for families coping with loss by adding new grief and healing resources to our website.
• Hosted our annual Butterfly Release Event, where community members gathered — both virtually and in person — to honour the pets who touched their lives. It was a beautiful, heartfelt day of remembrance, filled with shared stories, quiet moments, and the deep love that never fades.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we prepare for the year ahead, our mission remains clear:
No one should have to face pet cancer or loss alone.
In 2026, we plan to build on the work you’ve helped us grow. With new Board Directors located across Canada and new veterinary clinics and hospitals joining us as partners, our message is reaching more families than ever. Our small but mighty charity continues to be driven by passion — and we’re excited to expand our impact even further.
Warmest Wishes This Holiday Season
From all of us at Kali’s Wish, thank you for being part of this mission. Thank you for the compassion you show, the stories you share, and the support you offer to those who need it most.
We wish you and your loved ones a peaceful, hopeful holiday season.
We look forward to sharing more acts of kindness and community with you in 2026.
